“AI writes 90% of our code!!!!” Don’t worry, we can tell.

Dawg I swear AI coding is revolutionary just please give us another round please I swear it’ll be different this time bro just give us another $50M bro

More excellence

When the abundant liars and/or grifters talk about “increased efficiency”due to “AI”, it’s almost entirely increased efficiency in churning out this sort of gruel. Here is a sample, for reference:

Remember, ~everyone who failed to actually understand the video gets to vote in elections Democracy was a mistake

You don’t understand dog it’s sentient

Oh I love fan mail

The worst example of Microslop is trying to set up a Minecraft account for my child to play on my local server: >Microslop: You need a Microslop account to create a Minecraft account because reasons. >Me: OK. Go to sign up for a Microslop account. >Microslop: You need a unique email to create your Microslop account for your 7 year old because reasons. >Me: Create gmail email for kid (like 5 minutes tops) >Microslop: Oh. That email is for kids, so you can't just create a Microslop account for your child, you need to create a Microslop family account for your child >Me: Create a family account for my child. >Microslop: We sent a 2 step verification password for the FAMILY ACCOUNT (!) to be sent to your child's email because reasons. >Me: I enter the 2 step verification code and it keeps saying it wrong, despite it being the only fucking email my child email account has ever gotten. I was patient; it had nothing to do with lag >Microslop: Try doing this in another browser with cookies disabled. lmao? >Me: Try this in IE, Chrome, Edge Incognito and keeps giving me errors >Microslop: Sorry too many codes have been sent today. Fuck off for 24 hours. Lol >Me: Create a burner email saying my kid is 21 to do this again, and the 2 step verification works first time >Microslop: Great, NOW, do this hold button capcha because reasons. >Me: Do Capcha. Keep getting this error message "NoSuchKeyThe specified key does not exist. No such object: public-sensor-pages/msft/px/captcha_close" >Microslop: LOL. Nothing matters. >Me: I google and find a reddit page that shows me how to do this; basically you can only do this on your phone through the Outlook app without needing this broken capcha because reasons to create a microslop account because reasons. >Me: Get the Microsoft account working and finally install Minecraft for my 7 year old to play with her friends. This took me hours and I am an engineer who works in tech and automation. I can't even fathom how some kids around the world ever get to play Minecraft.

For such an important and influential game, it amounts to a crime, how unnecessarily difficult they’ve made it to actually download and play it.

big fan of the feedback box highlighting "No" almost as if trying to stop you from filing feedback

I abandoned Win in 2004 but I did notice while fighting with Windows8 once that they were forcing users to type instead of using GUI menus... At which point I thought "Isn't reluctance to type into the computer the reason why everyone refuses to use Linux???"

No. I’ve historically not used Linux because of horrible reliability and UX.

Reliability cannot be argued as it's running the entire internet - and UX, well that was my point... if you're typing anyway, when you type a command at Linux and it doesn't do what you want it's because *you* didn't do it the way that has worked for the last 50 years.

You’re right, reliability can’t be argued, because it’s abysmal for consumer desktops and laptops. Horrible GPU driver support, horrible audio support, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, sleep, and so on. It has become somewhat better but it’s still a mess.

@fisharmor126706 Linux is honestly more reliable than Windows for me. I can use it for weeks at a time without issue, while it feels like I can barely get a day of runtime before Windows decides to break in a new way.

@rfleury I'll give him that there are still serious irritants. I wish the sleep settings wasn't still an issue, and I wish I didn't have to manually overwrite resolv.conf everytime I connect to a vpn. And I understand why people would call them reliability issues.

Microslop ;)

this AI is still smarter than the people that pushed this code live thinking it was working

You’re supposed to type one or two descriptive words like mouse or pointer lol not a whole sentence man

Idk bro i saw more than one word typed lol

@rfleury least obvious rage bait

@rfleury Bro this is 6 words. It’s not a search engine like google

@noahsmaximum @rfleury

@noahsmaximum @rfleury Half assed programming never delivers just do it the regular way

The other tutorial suggestions like "screen is too dark" don't work either lol

Not sure you know how to use a search function brother

Not sure you have a brain brother

Did you try searching mouse or cursor? Why are you trying to give it a sentence to discern what you meant. Yeah, it brought up sound tests when you type tests… I see this as both user and AI being a problem.

I TYPED THE EXACT STRING IT RECOMMENDED

It said try, not that it would work!

How do you mess up semantic search 😭😭😭

"Why did you type that?" Because that is what Microsoft recommended. "Why would you type that" Ask Microsoft.

#Microslop

Enshittification will continue until linux resistance improves

Ofc a real company, KPIs are being met.

That’s not a real company.

@prashank25 Next thing you'll tell me is the economy is fake...

@prashank25 You’ll never believe this

I am not touching Windows 11 with a 79 foot pole dude. Actual garbage. Genuinely impressive how much worse they managed to make it since it's release too.

It feels really insulting to offer a “Send feedback” button that then sends you through a frustrating, high-friction process just to report a genuine issue.

The comments in this post proves the "60% of the US can't read above a 6th grade reading level"

If you will spin that mouse like that in KDE desktop, it will grow up the cursor (temporarily), to make it easier to spot on the screen... (plus the search for "mouse" will list all settings related, instantly, including "Cursors" which has "Size" option)

yeah, sorry, my comment was more like amusement about that impatient mouse shaking, which I sometimes do myself, but with recent version of KDE it has "consequences" (not annoying, didn't even turn it off, and the kid loves it)

It's trying to redirect you to Bing so you can search for a tutorial on how to use a computer. It's not a bug, it's an ecosystem.

starting to wonder if the replies are also copilot AI

have you tried "mouse settings" instead ?

I don't see the issue here...

They might like to hire you then

I don't think they hire cats...

And I didn’t think they hired monkeys. But here we are

I thought they exclusively hired monkeys?

Saar, it is good product saar !! Do the needful and aprovely like the product, saar

It never was.

Definitely not true.

I love that the very first line after the search input is used to try and calm you if the fancy new search didn’t work.

First, anyone who's been on the internet for more than 20 minutes knows more words doesn't equal better search results. Second,

Learn to read

Then you're just dumb.

You are unimaginably retarded

I don't want to hear anyone shit on vista ever again

Oh my god. I didn't realize for a moment that it was recommending that string. It feels very aspirational. Some frontend person did a ticket about this. The AI generated UI that presumes the search is AI based. Turns out nobody hooked up the AI search. Or it is a seperate JIRA ticket in the backlog.

we really don't need AI on a damn search bar

tbf it's not like Microsoft's search functionality worked before AI either
