@VodafoneGroup Really great interview, explaining what AST is and how *close* it is to succeeding, all while keeping the focus on the partner MNO and their customers. Scott did a really incredible job here!

$ASTS: World Space Business Week President and Chief Strategy Officer Scott Wisniewski Video edited for Scott's interactions only. I also summarize in my own words below. BTW, you're going to love the guy asking the last question... he pretty much sums up the attitude and vibe of legacy players perfectly - Anpanman + AST has had a "cellular first" broadband direct-to-device strategy with focus on MNO operator in mind + We have strategic investors AT&T & Verizon in the US, Vodafone in Europe, Bell Canada in Canada, Rakuten in Japan as well as American Tower and Google + Approach has always been ecosystem-centric, how do we make the service work well for MNOs for their customers + We are a source of revenue, not a cost center for MNOs + Signed definitive commercial agreements with AT&T and Vodafone, other major partners are not far behind + We have over 50 MNOs signed up globally + Building and deploying a constellation is very hard - often tried but rarely successful + Deployed 5x of the largest satellites in LEO + Next generation satellite which is 3x bigger is ready to roll off the factory floor soon + We are working with 3x different launch partners + Plan 13x launches over the next 1.5 years + Expect 5x launches through Q1 2026 + Made Ligado spectrum investment earlier this year + Believe MSS together w/ cellular spectrum is the right strategy + SpaceX's recent spectrum acquisition highlights 2x things, 1) the value of our Ligado spectrum and 2) the size and potential of the direct-to-device market + There will be a tremendous role for satellites in improving and enhancing cellular networks + We believe having large aperture is the right approach for this market + Large aperture = better propagation to the phone, the ability to handle multiple frequencies within the same beam, allows you to serve multiple MNOs and finally gives you a very large pipe to deliver as much service as possible + We leverage existing handsets to sell broadband data based on whatever consumption model the MNO decides to sell to its consumers + We believe in supporting an ecosystem that is very supportive and friendly to our MNO partners + Vodafone invested in AST in 2019 (series B), 2021 (IPO), 2024 (Convert + Commercial Prepayments) - so 3x times and they recently formed a go-to-market joint venture in Europe where we have signed 21 of the 27 member states already + For AST, it's about the technology, layering in the spectrum and making it all work seamlessly for the MNOs + Satellites and space has not been relevant to MNOs in the past, however we believe our technology can provide connectivity to 6 billion existing devices in a unique and compelling way + We're deploying satellites in a handful of launches later in 2025 and many more in 2026 + We're very excited about the risk profile of what we're doing + Big satellite strategy is right + MNO partner strategy is right + Cellular + MSS spectrum strategy is right + Vertically integrated production strategy is right + You can't build a constellation by purchase order (outsourcing) + We think this is going to be a big market + We think that having access to one of the major MSS spectrum bands (Ligado) covering the most valuable wireless market in the world (USA) is an incredible strategic position + Having ecosystem of +50 MNOs globally is a strong strategic position to tap up to 6 billion mobile phones in the market + We think cellular broadband is the right approach and have executed well with the support of our MNO partners
