Russia has delivered a new batch of Su-57 fifth-generation fighters in what UAC calls a “new technical configuration.” The aircraft completed factory testing and were evaluated by Russian Ministry of Defense pilots before flying to their operational bases. One of the most interesting changes is the evolution of the Su-57’s electro-optical sensor complex. Newer aircraft feature more distributed sensors around the fuselage, expanding passive electro-optical coverage and giving the pilot a broader picture of the surrounding battlespace. The upgrade shows that Russia is continuing to evolve the Su-57 rather than treating it as a finished design. Along with sensor improvements, newer batches have received updated onboard systems and expanded weapons capabilities.
