Having read through the replies to Starmer and the the Government's posts to social media on the Chagos Islands deal, it is evident that there is overwhelming anger at what people see as treachery. There are very few people who express any support for what Starmer has done.

They know he lied about Chinese opposition to the Chagos surrender. They know he handed over a vital strategic base and British sovereignty to facilitate it. The Chagos deal was a betrayal of the United Kingdom’s national interest and a gift to China. The Trump administration will not forget. Neither will the British people.
