That is awful. We come to PRAY the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and to receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus in the Eucharist, the source and summit of our Faith. He needs prayer and conversion.

This seems to be a standard heresy of the Post Conciliar Church, that this is about sharing a meal, not the worship of the sacred body and blood of Christ Himself. Paul had some words for this: 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 English Standard Version 17 But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. If you're Catholic, as I am, you take that bread and that wine after the Words of Institution KNOWING they are now the actual body and blood of Christ, and act accordingly. Read the second half of John 6 to refresh your memory. If you're Protestant, as I was, I'll set aside the theological debate and say "Take those elements as if they were the body and blood of Christ. As if. With that much respect. Otherwise ask yourself why Jesus put so much emphasis on it in John 6 and again on His last night. Fellowship meals are good, outside of worship, sharing fellowship around a table, getting to know each other. In the South we shared fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, meat loaf, pies for desert, it was wonderful. But it does not belong in worship. That is reserved for the Risen Lord.

kinda seems right though? the purpose of mass is communion in/with each other/God. We also worship there, but that doesn't seem to be the purpose of the mass. Happy to be corrected. When i get in the car, the purpose is not to shift gears and to turn the wheel, it's to go A->B
