We removed subsidy so that we can have enough resources (money) to build infrastructure in the country and to support the economy. (I agree). But we are borrowing "in the light of the fuel subsidy removal & its impact on the national economy" ... so that we can build infrastructure and also support the economy. Me: Where is the excess we have saved from removing fuel subsidy? Please explain to me as a Nigerian teenager.

There is an extent to which propaganda can fly. They have seriously mismanaged the economy of the country and are still mismanaging it, yet they keep on with their propaganda. This NASS appearance by the minister of Finance and FRS chairman is a serious eye opener. It revealed the very serious economic crisis Nigeria is currently in under this regime. How do you explain rolling over 2024, 2025 budgets into 2026, while simultaneously borrowing 2026 and spending the money upfront, thereby mortgaging our future revenues? Running three budget circles at the same time, after borrowing heavily to fund recurrent expenditures? This is the same regime celebrating subsidy removal and its benefits. So where are the profits of the removal? Can they tell Nigerians what they have used the profits for? The regime is fantastically corrupt, fantastically incompetent, with zero accountability and integrity. Yet they chose propaganda, lies, and half-truths to deceive Nigerians instead of telling them the truth. Imagine now they are all explaining and contradicting themselves. The poor pay no tax while most in the middle class will pay less tax going forward. There is absolutely no cause for alarm. He went on to explain that subsidy in itself comprised of about 60% criminality which will be tackled first then gradually removing the other 40%. Whatever is saved would have been invested somewhere else like education. “Removal of subsidy must be followed with physical discipline. “You do not remove subsidy and buy yourself a new plane” - PO.
