this is proof that they don’t make things like they used to

It's a grease trap, hard to clean, and total fire hazard that would never last in the city. Great for IG and people with enough money to post all day! Dream dream dream

We should be far more enraged about what has been stolen from us as a country. I have a GE hand mixer that sees plenty of use that is almost double my age, craftsman tools even older, still working. Now nothing lasts more than 5 years.

@Lisa67believe We could make this today but it would cost 10k to start

Oh they do, you just can't afford it.

The idea that two guys could dead lift that stove if it was made like they used to is crazy.

I’m sure I’m not saying anything everybody doesn’t already know, but we live in a disposable product ecosystem. It’s by design. If everything lasted for 30 years, they wouldn’t be able to sell you more cheaply made shit that breaks within a year or two. In the case of electronics, planned obsolescence makes it so a perfectly good device, will slow down to a crawl or not hold a charge anymore. I’m a massive supporter of capitalism. Just not shady, underhanded, anti-consumer, capitalism.

Reminds me of the AGA Cooker the Kaufmann family used at Fallingwater. Thing weighs 900 lbs…

Gentlemen, moving heavy things while wearing Crocs is a very, very bad idea.

I used to have one. When we moved, we didn't have room for it. Still miss that workhorse. Hopefully again one day, sitting in storage. Can't part with it.

We love ours. Its not a grease trap. The broiler tray catches everything we cook in it and its easy to clean. Gas stove burners are harder to clean than a smooth electric cooktop but its totally worth the trade off. That broiler design is brilliant for cooking steaks. We don't cook on the top of it though. No reason to since we don't eat pancakes etc. We cook bacon on the broiler tray below and man does it put a perfect sear both sides on a steak without turning. We'll never go back to a modern stove.

Imagine how shamefull it would have been had they outlawed gas stoves. Thank you Mr. Trump for not allowing that. I could not cook if I didn't have gas to use for it! This is for a real cook.

Not gonna' lie; I'm jealous.

That oven would cost $14,000 today.

Ahh those were the days... When police vehicles had "serve and protect" written on them; when companies actually cared about customer satisfaction instead of "market share"; when vaccines recommendations were are 3-4 instead of 40+ shots on innocent children. Yeah these are the cycles... "Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.

i literally have one of those sitting in my backyard right now. its that ugly green color from the 50s, and its been out there for probably 15 years, but there isnt a spec of rust on it and it probably works just like new.

Make some coffee in one of these while you’re at it

These things are also insulated with asbestos and burn gas non-stop forever. Modern ranges are safer in multiple regards, but they certainly lack charm and utility. You win some you lose some.

pilot light? so it basically costs just existing lol. like a subscription

How to say you’re rich without saying you’re rich. There will be signs. This is definitely one.

Original video and channel on YouTube. Give her a follow.

I feel like there is a seemly endless kiss of products we used to have that actually lasted that could just be manufactured again. Why not

Jeff Bezos would never sell you this. Lowe’s would never carry this. Consume. It breaks. You buy another one. Consume. It breaks. You buy another one. Consume. It breaks. You buy another one.

Holy motherfuck I need one of these. Not want. NEED

Thank u 4 the appliance porn. I need a cigarette now. Where can u purchase 1 of those bad boys, Ive killed 5 stoves n this house. I cook every day, it used 2b sports teams of 20 or more most days when the boys where young. Now it's just us until the holidays. This does it all!

My great grandparents had a working farm & a stove similar to this. Years ago. The crock pot always was full & cooking whatever was available to feed the farm hands. Workers in & out all day long. Good memories.

These two guys are as strong as #superheroes! I know these kinds of stoves—they're as heavy as lead!

That’s from the Past BUT It feels so futuristic! Where did we go wrong as a humanity? Ow wait that’s rite GREED & PROFIT.

And it doesn't ask if you want to connect via Bluetooth.

Go look at a amish refrigerator. Literally runs on the smallest amount of propane.

I grew up with a Chambers unfortunately it developed a gas leak & there was no one in the region who could/would fix it & we had to get a modern one . . . Probably a different story in the eastern seaboard area for repair options . . .

No it’s proof an extremely expensive high end stove was taken extra care of and babied until you took ownership.

Hey, that’s my grandmother’s stove!

The woman who posted the original video (and owns the stove) goes by “Tina Cooks” or “Chambers and Charm Kitchen” on other social media platforms (and YouTube). She’s striving to build her business so she can be home with her children. I recommend following her!

This is what greed stole from us. One of the most widely ignored issues of the affordability crisis is the fact that nearly everything we buy is cheap China junk; clothing that falls apart quickly, overpriced, low quality home appliances, low quality food that makes us sick...
