I understand what you are trying to do, but using this without at least a bit of context for your audience is unfair. This is not a freedom that the Iranian government has freely given to women. After Mahsa Amini was beaten to death in 2022 by the Islamic Republic’s morality police over her hijab, women and men across Iran protested. Many people lost their lives. Others were sentenced to long prison terms and subjected to torture. Women in Iran resisted so persistently that, in some places, the authorities were forced to back off or stop enforcing certain rules as strictly. But that does not mean these freedoms were granted by the government, and they are not guaranteed. For many women and girls, this is still not a moment of safety. At any moment, the authorities can decide to arrest someone again. The pressure and the risk have not disappeared. So the way this is sometimes presented abroad is misleading. This is not a triumph for the Islamic Republic. If anything, it is a testament to the courage and persistence of Iranian women who have continued to resist despite enormous risks.
