Some Igbo people have always claimed that the ancient Grand Bonny Kingdom is an Igbo community, simply because a large number of people speak Igbo in Bonny. They even claim we don’t have our own language. This video shows a Bonny elder offering traditional prayers in the Ibani language. Ibani is our true ancestral language; not Igbo. Bonny is, and has always been, an Ijaw community.
