This is rediculous. Twitch needs to fix this shit It’s a huge let down for streamers like myself who promote lurking and have 90% of their community being people who just want to come watch and not actively talk I use to be close to 30ccv before this now... I’m lucky to see 15show more

I don’t stream to get big, not that I would anyway. I do it so ppl can escape life for a little bit so it doesn’t affect me as much as someone whose tryna grow and make it big but it still sucks regardless since the average is a good indicator of ppl like what you’re doing

Look at their prerolls, they just came off an adbreak which has temporarily effected view count for years now. They also don't have 900 unique chatters so some lurkers are still definitely being counted. We can't find out what's going wrong if we keep spreading bad data about it

Twitch isn’t going to fix it because I suspect it is by design and they want viewers to be interacting in the chat and actively watching the stream. Only just a guess of course.

literately did this today I tracked all my viewers at my peak i had 42 viewers.. twitch said i had 28. its sad to see twitch destroy itself

i definitely have quite a few dedicated viewers who love background noise but don't chat and its definitely a bummer to see these changes

@dinonuggiesVT Yeah, i can name 5 people off the top of my head who have been around for 2 years or more that have said next to nothing but I know they’re always there. One of them being around since pretty much the beginning and said their first message when I released my 2.0 model last year

This is true. I will have 25-30 people my mods are watching on the list, but because they are not talking. Most of my audience has told me they lurk because I'm 'calmer' streamer. I LOVE my lurkers just as much as my chatters. That will NEVER change, but Twitch makes a problem.

I came across a user on Reddit that did some digging about this clip and it seems that there is more going on with this clip than is being presented. I think this clip needs a bit more scrutiny and shouldn't be taken at face value so easily.

If somebody opens a window to your stream and then walks outside and starts cutting their grass they should not count as a viewer. Because they're not. It's not ridiculous you just have zero sense of logic and no business sense to speak of.

You’re assuming that everyone lurking opens a window and leaves. Not saying that some don’t do that, but just look at the comments and you can see a lot of people, including myself, have a stream open while working. It’s no different than watching tv on while doing chores.

It’s about time we show twitch what happens when you treat streamers like shit? It’s time to show them what their platform truly is without us streamers.

This is so dumb. Some people have the stream in the background while they work, exercise, play games, etc. This change is a slap in the face of streamers, and of lurkers because Twitch is basically saying they're worth less unless they talk all the time.

It's better this way, because lurkers on another tab/window/application, as well as people with Adblock, both arent giving you revenue. If someone has 100ppl there but 40 fall under that category, I'd rather Twitch say "60 viewers" and know that all of those are CPM viewers for $

As a lurker and as an introvert I hate this. I just want to lurk and at the same time support the streamer i like by being there. But if it means i have to actively chat to make me count as viewer i as well just could delete my account then since chatting is something i don't do

Since September mine went from having 2-4 average to constant 1's and even 0.x's. if this happened months prior i still wouldn't have affiliate most likely and that's probably the case now for even smaller streamers.

I went from a nice steady maybe 8-12 to a consistent 4, and even with the 8-12 it was more like 18 or so, it's insane.

I usually have 5 to 7 viewers on my stream, but this past week my viewer count dropped to 2 or 3, depending on how many people were chatting
