"On the ground" is where she found the receipt in the first place. It's a common scam: pick up a discarded receipt, go in the store and "buy" everything on the receipt, then walk out the door with a receipt that shows everything is paid for. Why isn't "her" stuff in bags?

Absent any other info, the customer's looks at fault here- walked all around a supermarket with a dog, and then when stopped for a receipt check probably flipped out got hostile and threw it at the worker. yall enabling this is why stores have everything locked up now

As far as I am concerned, for as long as you are still on store property, and visibly have goods that come from that store, it is perfectly reasonable for the staff to ask that you prove everything has been paid for. My bet is that 90% (or higher) of people who kick up a fuss about having their receipt checked, as this woman did, have stolen something.
