This is so eye opening when tariffs are broken down like this. Seems the Left should be happy that corporations are made to pay their fair share since they are anti-capitalism. The only reason they are opposed to tariffs is because President Trump is implementing them.

I did this a long time ago. The only time I wear something Nike is if I already owned it for 20+ years or maybe if I got it through a thrift store. Same with adidas.

Another take on tariffs from a working class stiff. The original “Income Tax” was supposed to tax the profits of the wealthy from the participation in corporate enterprises. Imposing tariffs on imports brings revenue to the Treasury and can replace taxes on our working class wages. Paying reciprocal tariffs on exports are paid by corporations. Therefore import tariffs should be high enough to replace the taxes corporations and those that make money from money were supposed to pay.

Tariffs 101: Tariffs are not paid by countries. Canada does not pay them to the US. Likewise, the US does not pay them to Canada. The importer from that country imposing the tariffs, pays it. For example, if Trump imposes 50% tariffs on trucks made by GM, but GM made them in Canada. GM is paying $50K in tariffs. Not Canada. And that $50K extra in tariffs, is ultimately paid by the consumer. Ultimately, it's a tax paid by businesses, passed down to the consumer of the country that imposed the tariffs. Likewise, Canada imposing tariffs on the US, only hurts Canadian customers. Countertariffs are done strategically, to prevent the flight of manufacturing, from Canada, to the US. In the end, during trade wars like this, consumers always end up paying the price.

The white house acknowledged that when they agreed to give a handout to farmers to offset the costs on these farmers from these tariffs. They do not want a handout. They just want to simply produce their crops. Their lives are being made more difficult because of the president's failed economic policy.
