I don’t know what happened, my mother ALWAYS did her own punishing for anything she caught us kids doing. Even for things she THOUGHT we were doing (just in cases we had ideas😁). Rarely did she leave us waiting for dad to finish the job; although, he was never one to “spare the rod” either. Nevertheless, when I got married, every one of my wives (my first two had child[ren] when I met them) would defer real punishment to me like I was “the enforcer.” I stupidly played the part. In the last couple years before my last divorce, I stopped doing it and made our son’s mom actually do her own punishment. It pissed her off…AT ME! To this day, two of my past step-kids only see me as the guy who “hated them because all I did was punish them and used to “spank” them.” I don’t regret one moment of using corporal punishment or being a stern punisher, but I do regret that I allowed myself to be used for that role. Men! Heed the lesson: share all child discipline chores and tasks in your marriage.
