I grew up in the 60s, 70s, and 8os on the beaches of Southern California. If you could "pinch an inch," you were obese. People were cruel back then about anyone overweight. Anorexia and Bulimia were prevalent.

Male privilege is not being expected to go through life 20 pounds underweight.

This video compilation must date back to the 90s. Standards of beauty very from culture to culture. Visit an emerging market and you'll discover that a voluptuous women is regarded as being more beautiful. Whereas, in countries where abundance (food) is overflowing, as in North America, then women who are waifs are seen as beautiful. If that were me, I'd have offered to shove the scale up his arse.
