Your job as a parent is to protect your child from extended family members who would treat them this way. Frankly, especially if you’re financially independent, allowing your parents to dictate who you build a life with on the basis of race, religion, or culture is unacceptable. You’ll be with your partner long after your parents die; if your partner is a good person and you’re personally okay with mixing cultures, that’s all that should matter.

Intercultural/racial divorce rates are very high. What frequently happens is the relationship breaks down, the person goes back to their family, w/ the child, for help & the child is exposed to subtle/not so subtle bigotry. There r many stories from the kids of these situations.
