The man has been identified as Deepak U, a native of #Govindapuram in #Kozhikode. He was found hanging at his residence early morning. According to police, his parents were home at the time. When he did not respond to repeated calls, neighbours were alerted to the situation, and the door was forced open, following which he was found dead. The incident came to light after a woman shared a video on social media alleging that the man had deliberately touched her with sexual intent while travelling on a crowded bus. The video, reportedly recorded during a journey from Payyannur railway station to the bus stand, went viral and garnered over 20 lakh views, triggering widespread online reactions. This video shows the scene at Medical College Ernkulam as Raila underwent post-mortem at night. After he collapsed at Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital and Research Centre in Koothattukulam, he was rushed in an ambulance to the nearby Devamatha Hospital where efforts to save his life failed. With his death having been confirmed at the hospital, his body embarked on a 1h 10 minutes journey to Medical College Ernkulam in Kochi where a post-mortem was conducted on his body for three hours. Get a translator, or use Google translator and you will see the words "Government MEDICAL COLLEGE, FORENSIC MEDICINE DEPARTMENT, MORTUARY", boldly written outside the building. Forensic Medicine focuses on determining the cause of death by examining a corpse through autopsy/post-mortem. The Department of Forensic Medicine at Government Medical College, Ernakulam, is described as a key academic and clinical department providing autopsy services and expert medical testimony for legal cases. Witnessing the process was Raila Odinga's personal doctor, Dr Olunya, his bodyguard Ogeta and Peter Muchiri Kenya's High Commissioner to India. Indian policemen stood guard outside the building until the process was completed and the body driven to Kochi Airport for airlifting to Mumbai Airport on an Indian Air Force plane then to Kenya on a KQ plane. As Dr Olunya exits Government Medical College, Ernakulam, after the autopsy you can see him carrying some paperwork, definitely a post-mortem report. ~ Levin odhiambo

UgandaVsMollyKatanga Senior Forensic Pathologist calls the possibility that Mr Henry Katanga was shot and killed by his wife Molly Katanga, “extremely slim and highly unlikely”. He said the case before Justice Rosette Comfort Kania is not a homicide but a homicide-suicide where Mr Henry Katanga beat his wife, thought she was dead then sat or stood on the bed and shot himself. He lambasted the postmortem report presented by the state to back up their case as a “very dangerous postmortem report that couldn’t have passed peer review” in a serious entity. Dr Sylvester Onzivua was the first defense witness in this trial. He holds a Degree in Medicine and Surgery, from Makerere University (1993), a Masters of Medicine in Pathology (2003), a Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic medicine from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (2005). He’s also trained in Forensic Anthropology from Durban. He worked with Mulago Hospital, attached to the Department of Pathology of Makerere University and part of his deployment was in the City Mortuary where he was the Head of City Mortuary. He worked there from 2005 up to 2013. He said he has testified in numerous cases, mostly for the prosecution, including in the military courts. In a session whose start was marked by early heated exchanges between defense attorney Elison Karuhanga and Chief State Attorney Jonathan Muwaganya, Dr Onzivua took on the mantle of courtroom forensic pathology Prof, basically reliving a teaching role he continues to play in real life at Makerere University, even after his retirement. Early court proceedings were anything but smooth, with the Judge calling both sets of lawyers to her chambers for more than 2 hours because the state was adamant that Dr Onzivua shouldn’t use the postmortem report on court file but should instead use copies availed to him by the defense. On resumption and with a 50 slide PowerPoint presentation, Dr Onzivua took Justice Kania through the science of bullets and bullet injuries. He told her how to tell a bullet entry wound from an exit wound. He then used images of the late Henry Katanga, taken during postmortem, to show that the pathologists who conducted that postmortem wrote an erroneous report that misled the court to think the bullet that killed Mr Katanga went from left to right as opposed to what he said was a scientifically incontrovertible conclusion that the bullet direction was right to left. This point is very key because when Justice Kania put Mrs Katanga to her defense, she relied in part on prosecution evidence that claimed that Mr Katanga was shot on the left side of his head and since he was right handed, this would be very difficult. Dr Onzivua scoffed at that and using a combination of human props and postmortem images, he showed that indeed the state had it wrong; that it was scientifically wrong to conclude as they did. He pointed to the absence of tattooing, lacerations on the hole on the left side of Mr Katanga’s head and wondered why the state pathologists concluded that it was an entry hole despite showing all characteristics of an exit hole. He said there’s “no tattooing, no blackening, no muzzle imprint on a close contact bullet entry wound? So how, how, hoooow would they have called this an entry wound in the absence of blackening, tattooing or muzzle imprint? There’s no scientific basis of calling the wound on the left an entry wound.” “The wound on the right was stated to be 5cm by 3cm and this was described as an exit wound. The entire dimensions of the ear were taken and then stated to be the dimensions of the exit wound. This, scientifically is not correct. The true dimensions of the skull defect on the right side were not taken and there is therefore no scientific basis to call it an exit wound. A comparison of the right and left ear shows blackening on the right and none on the left. On the contrary, the external features of the wound on the right side are those of an entry hole” Cont’d…

Kearney Disinformation Correction Yesterday, Aidan Kearney attempted to attack the lack of canine DNA detected on John's clothing by tweeting two misleading claims. 1. Canine Swab Collection Kearney Disinformation: Michael Proctor was the source of DNA collected. Factual Information: The swabs were neither from Proctor's body nor collected by him. The swabs were collected by Maureen Hartnett at the MSP crime lab from John's shirt per instructions of Teri Kuhn at UC Davis and were received packaged appropriately. 2. Inhibitors Caused The Lack of Canine DNA Kearney Disinformation: There were inhibitors on John's clothing that masked the presence of canine DNA. Factual Information: UC Davis was asked to perform two tests: a nuclear DNA test which would be used to identify a specific animal and, if the nuclear DNA test failed to yield results, a mitochondrial DNA test called Meat ID to determine presence of DNA from a variety of species. Nuclear DNA is found in the nucleus of the cell and only 2 copies exist whereas mitochondrial DNA is found in the cytoplasm and is significantly more abundant with hundreds of thousands of copies. Nuclear DNA tests are far more accurate in determining the exact source, ie one dog from another dog, whereas mitochondrial DNA is less specific but will be able to determine if DNA from a specific animal species is present. In this case, the presence of DNA from 12 different animal species, including canine and pig, was tested. The results of the QPCR testing for nuclear DNA were that the swabs "did not indicate the presence of canine (nuclear) DNA, but did indicate the presence of inhibitors. This result is obtained when 1. Canine DNA is degraded, 2. The DNA is obscured by inhibitors, or 3. There is no nuclear DNA present." The less specific test using mitochondrial DNA, Meat ID, was then completed. This test showed no canine DNA and further, showed no inhibitors. In other words, had canine DNA been present, it would have been identified on the Meat ID mitochondrial testing since there were no inhibitors. The below video contains questioning from both the defense and prosecution supporting the identified factual information.

Today's inquest into the murder of Rex Masai marks my 300th court appearance in solidarity with victims of illegal arrests and sociopolitical injustices since the June 2024 protests. In today's session, the Investigating officer has confirmed that the officer, Isaiah Murangiri Nduba, who was captured along Uhuru highway with a blue jeans, was the same officer captured carrying a small gun and a baton at the scene where Rex Masai was shot. The IO also states that Mr Isaiah Murangiri, according to arms movement register, was issued with a teargas launcher and on the camera, the same officer is seen in possession of a baton and a small pistol. We would also like to inform Kenyans that the arms movement register was revealed to have been altered during the 22nd July 2025 hearing. The IO has also stated before the court that Isaiah's statement had three numbers, two registered under his name and one registered under Michael Oginga Okello. Stating also that Isaiah decided to mislead the investigations by giving misleading information. The IO reveals that Safaricom data, under one of the numbers registered under Murangiri, revealed that Isaiah was not stationed at KICC as he had revealed in his statement. The data shows that he was at Development House, Wakulima House, New Keraita building, Kariako area and St Ellis along Wabera street. He also says that Wabera street is where one of the witnesses identified as Fredrick, spotted the officer chasing after other demonstrators. A ballistic report shows that the cartridge that was picked at the International house was 5.56 by 45mm calibre, ammunition fired from a rifle and could not be linked to the two identified pistols issued for forensic analysis. The IO says that the OCS in his statement, stated that he never deployed officers in civilian to handle protests. That begs the question, how did an undercover officer appear in public with a launcher? He has concluded by saying that they were unable to get the firearm from which the bullet that injured Rex Masai came from. #JusticeForRexMasai

HISTORYSHEETER ROWDY ARRESTED; FAMILY ATTACKED POLICEMEN A 26-year-old history-sheeter was arrested during a ganja raid in Pulianthope after police seized narcotic substances from his residence. Police also registered a separate case against his relatives for attacking officers during the operation. A video of the altercation later circulated on social media. Acting on a tip-off about the sale of ganj in the Pulianthope, a team from the Basin Bridge Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Krishnakumar and other personnel, conducted a raid on a house in Gandhi Nagar Fifth Street on Sunday night. The house belonged to Nandakumar, 26, who is listed as a history-sheeter by the police. During the search, officers seized 29 packets of ganja weighing a total of 10 grams and six syringes from the premises. Police said women present in the house initially objected to the search and attempted to prevent officers from carrying out the raid. After Nandakumar was arrested and police attempted to take him into custody, his mother and other female relatives assaulted the officers. According to police, the officers used force to protect themselves and bring the situation under control. A video showing the confrontation between police personnel and the family members subsequently went viral on social media platforms. Nandakumar was taken to the Basin Bridge Police Station, where a case was registered against him under relevant provisions relating to possession of narcotic substances. He was inquired further. In a related development, Nandakumar’s mother, Meena, went to the police station and demanded her son’s release. Police said she injured her wrist with a razor blade during the protest and argued with officers inside the station premises. She was later sent away after intervention by police personnel. The Basin Bridge police registered a separate case against Nandakumar’s relatives for obstructing and assaulting police personnel during the raid.
