Always greet them first. Show them respect and they will also return the favour. I learnt to treat the security the same way I would treat a CEO from my late grandfather. He would always greet athi “ngiyabingelela nduna zami” whilst raising his hands as a form of respect. Learn to do this my fellow Africans and you won’t have these issues🤞🏾

Self hate amongst us blacks is a real thing! You can say what you wanna but the apartheid system succeeded in making us believe that white is always right and better than black! It’s so sad. I’ve seen blacks prefer other races even less qualified for a job.

I think cashiers are also included, I experience such treatment always in restaurants and supermarket. White people are being treated respectfully.

True but generally we treat each other like that, be in supermarkets, enquiries at receptions etc. We're accustom to working for white establishments who treated us like that for centuries, now this attitude is imbedded in our subconscious towards our own.

I think this is a post-traumatic repercussions of apartheid. There is always that unspoken risk of losing your job dare you exercise the authority bestowed by your job to a “Yt” person. We mask it as intra-racial racism but it’s actually inferiority complex, in my opinion.
