There’s a video going around right now of women saying they want “their life back.” And what do they point to? Not clubs. Not careers. Not chaos. They’re pointing back to the kitchens their grandmothers stood in — flour on the counter, babies on their hips, something warm in the oven, and a home that actually felt like a home. Let me tell you something: That was my dream. That was my joy. That was the life I wanted, and the life I built. I wanted to be a homemaker. I wanted to be a mom. I wanted to be like my mother and my grandmother — women who held their families together with love, work, and a kind of quiet strength you don’t see anymore. And I don’t know what happened to the mothers of today. Somewhere along the line, the world convinced them that the most sacred job on earth was “not enough.” But now? Now I’m watching women crawl back to the very life they were told to throw away. And I’ll say it straight: That is where the real life is. There is nothing — NOTHING — more rewarding than being home with your children. Baking bread. Rolling cookies. Making a house feel alive. Laugh at me all you want. I’m happy. I’m fulfilled. I raised two strong, disciplined, grounded men — both firemen, both incredible human beings — because I was there. And yes, their wives are wonderful girls, but they weren’t taught the things we were taught. My boys do a lot of the cooking because the girls never learned. That’s not their fault — that’s the culture they were raised in. At least my sons know how to take care of themselves. But here’s the truth nobody wants to say out loud: Women today are missing out. You fight like hell to get pregnant, and the minute you finally get that miracle, you run right back to work. Why? Why would you hand your baby to someone else after praying for that child? Being home with your kids isn’t “old-fashioned.” It’s not “small.” It’s not “wasting your potential.” It is the most powerful, irreplaceable, soul-deep work a woman can do. And the women waking up to that? They’re not going backward. They’re finally going home. I would not change my life for anything in the world. I love being a mom. I love being a franma, and I love being a wife ! What else is there!

When my dad was dying he talked all the time about the bread his mom made. I decided to do something about it so I learned how to make bread. First time it was ok, second time better, by the third time it was great. My dad was so happy he cried when he bit into that slice of warm bread slathered with butter.

This was my childhood. My parents busted their butts to make sure we were fed. We raised our own produce at our own lifestyle. My mother made bread every day.

I’ve been a housewife for the last 26 years. I grow my own veggies. I took care of my grandchildren when they were babies. I took care of our parents at home until they passed. It’s been the best years of my life. I served in the Navy . Owned a home childcare when my children were babies until they started school and then I owned a custom drapery and upholstery business. Being a housewife and spending most of my time with family has been the best.

Life wasn’t meant to be perfect, it was just meant to be lived! I’m 70 and so grateful I was never a feminist. To me, this is living life to the fullest ❤️🇺🇸

And to think there were times when I took this lifestyle for granted as a child. How hardening it is to view this clip, and to hear that more and more people are getting back to it. Thank you so much.

idk that looks pretty perfect to me... I'd give anything to have a house just like that & I'd make it a home, maybe not the same as her, but close ! same as in I'd cook from scratch as much as I could & make sure everything looked cozy except in my own style, but definitely candles & tart or oil warmers ( side note she just needs to learn about trimming her wicks back a bit more for a better even longer lasting burn ) but... this reminds me of being a little girl at a vineyard that had a house that looked almost exactly like that & oh the pies we'd make !

We ALL could use some of this in our lives.

If we get a do-over, this is the goal 💖🕊️🍃

I long for this to happen again ❤️

I want one of those old-school stoves 😩. They don’t make them like they used to!

@PetinaVox This is my dream

Yes and yes. So I have a very big interest in the future. It's still important to cook for my family and to fix things and to take care of animals and children and our old folk and to try to have more of a big simple life. Being happy tomatoes yield yet another season, and to bake and freeze homemade rolls. Little things.

I dream of living like this. 💖

Watching this while my clothes are hanging on the line and I have bread rising on my counter. Just fed my kids a delicious dinner and I'm watching them play in the dirt and enjoying the sun going down.

@Gerrycannonball Love ❤️ this! 🙌🏻Reminds me of growing up on the family farm! ❤️ I miss it!

Thank you for this Sass.

Many of the GenX’ers were taught. We were raised differently than our mother and grandmothers. We were taught to be more independent and less afraid to stand on our own terms and that we had choices and pathways. We are the last generation of being taught old ways & methods with direct knowledge from our Grandparents and Great Grandparents. We are also one of the first generations that were introduced to computers and technology. What do you think happened? 🤔🧐

I always knew I wanted to be a mom and to raise my children. But if you would have told me 10 years ago that I'd be making bread, growing food and looking to move and start a homestead i would have laughed! Never thought I'd be here but I trust God and absolutely love my life.

I love this ❤️

I love this. 🫶🏻

I miss it all so much!

@SharonSgdr I miss those days.

You had me at the cinnamon rolls 🤣🤣

looks like generational trauma to me

😍

Did I see bacon and fried chicken? 🤪😋 Yes, very wholesome Sassy! The good ole days!

"Feminism" ruined this

A Bible group of women I’m in was just saying how unhappy their moms were and felt trapped. I’m sad about that. I know there’s lots of factors but I do think a life caring for your family is the most important even if it’s not fulfilling 100 percent of the time.

Sounds like paradise to me‼️

My grandma taught us all these lessons while mom was working. Never lose the ability or willingness to “go back.”

❤

Got a useless bachelor's degree in the 80s, did the 9 to 5 for a few years, and hated every minute of it. Somehow, my hubster knew I wanted to be his trad wife, and it was the best choice ever. Thing is, you don't have to be Instagram worthy, just soft and peaceful. 😁

THIS is what I long for
