During the Russian attack on Kyiv on July 10, Ukrainian surgeon Borys Todurov and his team performed a child heart transplant. Doctors transported the donor organ for a child patient at the Heart Institute from Okhmatdyt Hospital during an air raid alert, missiles and drones attacking Kyiv as explosions sounded in the city. On their way, the doctors recorded a video of burning buildings not far from the clinic. Despite the threat, the heart was delivered, and the transplant was performed. The patient, a child, has been living with a heart disease for several years, but her condition deteriorated, and a new heart was her only chance. Thankfully, the operation was successful, Dr. Todurov said. "The heart is working, and the pressure is stable. We hope that the patient will recover and live a long and full life," he said.
