Good teacher, says she doesnt care, but what shes actually doing *is caring* She cares that her students can eat & drink - thus increasing concentration She cares that her students have resources (like to charge their phones) She cares that her students socialize and aren't little hermits tucked away on tiktok She cares that they can express the way they want to dress And she cares if they have time to use the bathroom thus being a minute late to class She 👏cares 👏

Todays kids should not be wearing fucking pajamas to school. Set them up for success not failure. Public schools are shit and we are paying for that.

This sounds a bit more like a college level class attitude. Meaning, in college, it’s up to the student to pay attention, to get something out of the material presented. However they do it, absorb and process the material. If not, they suffer the consequences. High schoolers are usually not at that level of commitment yet.

She’s cool. But, it’s not about her. It’s about the school, which has policies in place for a reason. What kind of issues does this laxity cause for other teachers who do care about the policies.

I disagree! Lowered standards will continue in a lower direction. Standards are there to develop discipline. We don’t want cool teachers we want ones with priorities, standards, and discipline. The rules apply across the board.

She might not care about eating/drinking in class but the hungry kids who don’t have access to food until supplied through lunch programs/snack bins probably do. Do you know how difficult it is to concentrate on learning when you are hungry and someone else is eating near by?

This is setting up kids to fail when they get to the real job world where there are rules to follow whether you agree with them or not. You as a teacher are not allowed to be late, or wear whatever you want, you would get fired.

It’s called structure you idiot. These kids need it more not than ever. Today’s high school students can hardly read. This “teacher” shouldn’t be allowed to anywhere near our kids.

I see both sides, but I spent 20 years teaching high school. I would like to sit in on a couple of her classes for a real view of the learning going on. Also, what about the visiting/observing administrators? Teachers have to stick to standards.

This is why young people think sweats are cool to wear to a job and they can eat anywhere and be late. WTH.

Cool. I would have loved you as a teacher. Unfortunately, their boss at their job cares about being on time and following rules like dress code. Unfortunately, they really struggle when they get to the work world and shocked when fired because they were late every day.

This kind of teacher makes life hard for all of the other teachers in school. I cared if kids ate in my class because I taught science and there could be owl pellet or frog bits on their desk. This kind of teacher also makes it hard for the students who want to LEARN.

I use to think this way too.. But it carries over. If these kids can sit through a catholic service? They can survive class.. If they havent been to a mass they need to start like boot camp training!! And im not catholic 🤣
