This is the first time I've discovered this PS1 game and I'm amazed. Setting the game to double resolution and disabled texture warping makes it look even better. We need more new PS1 style games in different kind of genres like this.

Raystorm was decent, but nothing like Rayforce on saturn (this game prequel) which you should check it out though

This is a trilogy. Rayforce, raystorm, and raycrisis.

The Ray trilogy is masterful.

As others pointed out, this is the 2nd game on a trilogy. And I know you're talking about PS1 style graphics, but the first game, Rayforce, uses 2D Graphics and it's a damn powerhouse of what 2D graphics can do. The best in the trilogy and one of the best ever in the genre.

Man I still have my old copy of Ray Storm for my PS1. Awesome shmup.

this is actually a psone port of an arcade game, and the whole trilogy is available on M2's excellent Ray'z Arcade Chronology. All three games are excellent, imo, and the third game, Raycrisis, is even more visually impressive than the one shown here

i love raystorm so much, the music is so good

PS1/Saturn polygonal Shmups are an unique look, I'm personally a fan of the way R-Type Delta looks.
