The programme theme song, 'Fruity Flutes!'.

My favourite piece of music of all time

My grandmother owned this book. First take 1lb of suet, 1lb of plain flour, 2ozs of salt, a pint of good beef stock, then throw them away and cook fish fingers.

Yes we had it & Farmhouse Kitchen II!

Farmhouse Kitchen was essential afternoon viewing when off school poorly with a cold/flu/mumps/measles/whatever. I say essential, there was nothing else on at that time of day. Still got my mum's book.

What a lovely show that was

I bought that for my mum

Dorothy Sleightholme. That takes me back.

Isn't that Dorothy Sleightholme ???? The darling of youth unemployment in the late 70s

My mam had this book. We used to watch Farmhouse Kitchen when it was on ITV in the afternoon 🫠

Back cover of Half Man Half Biscuit’s LP ‘Back In The DHSS’. Sorry for the ropey image.

I still use my mum’s old copy!

I actually have a copy of The Farmhouse Kitchen Book. It’s been well used, especially for cakes.

I still use my Farmhouse Kitchen cookery book

I've got that! It was my Mum's.

We used to get this one from the milkman.

Blessed Dorothy Sleightholme, pray for us.

I used to have a copy of this book, until my brother decided to borrow it, and I never got it back! ☹️

I still have that book

@BradfemlyWalsh I know that book. My mum has a copy and I used it a lot. It’s great!

This has been appearing on my you tube feed recently. I've watched a couple and come to the conclusion, food in the 70's was all grey, and wetherspoons got their plates from the FK set.

My mum had a copy and made good use of it

Don't forget the salt and pepper mix!

My mum had this, probably still does!

Every Northern household had a copy of that.

Ah, Farmhouse Kitchen, with its original presenter Dorothy Sleightholme. I was so pleased to discover a few of them had appeared on YouTube. I was on the cusp of my teenage years when it started, so remember it well.

That brings back memories of being bored while ill and off school, and the only thing on TV was Farm House Kitchen and then Crown Court

Back when postcodes were very short! (I have visited the Yorkshire TV studios in Leeds, bitd...)

My late Gran swore by that book! 🥲🥲

Their breasts used to end up coated in flour.

I’ve got my gran’s copy, it’s my culinary bible.

My mother loved that programme

OMG I used to watch Farmhouse Kitchen with my gran! Good old Dorothy Sleightholme

I still have the 3 farmhouse kitchen books

Did anyone else get a copy that was misprinted? Ours had some blank pages and some missing pages in the middle. My lasting memory of Farmhouse Kitchen was Dorothy panicking when her custard wouldn't thicken 😂

And now, The Sullivans

you need to get out more.
