So please understand that despite being delivered by the monarch in all the traditional pomp, the “King’s Speech” is written entirely by the sitting Prime Minister, cabinet ministers, and government officials. If you want to (understandably) pile on someone about the contents, direct it at Keir Starmer - not The King.

The King’s Speech is a perfectly fine movie that definitely has its moments, but it still amazes me this film won four Oscars, including Best Picture over The Social Network. This was Fincher’s chance at Best Director as well but that was another misstep from The Academy.
