Its valuable tool, not using it is like not using a calculator on a math exam when you have the option too.

how I've been describing this to normies is... imagine trying to avoid colonization in the 16th century. you can't, overwhelming power is coming

Regulations around how it's trained aren't out of the question or unreasonable from a copyright standpoint. I'm also old enough to remember when classical artists thought Photoshop was gonna kill art. Just like older PS users thought "generative fill" would kill classic PS skill.

Regulations aren’t out of the question or unreasonable. But it’s worth noting, Japan has made it legal for A.I. to data scrape copyrighted materials to train on. This means that in Japan, it’s legal for large language models (LLMs) to scrape and utilize data from entities like Studio Ghibli for training purposes.

It's here, and it isn't going away. Everyone will use it in one way or another. Whether they know it or not, whether they like it or not. I'm actually interested in seeing what artistic minds can do with this technology

Already lost my job as a motion designer 16 months ago, been learning about AI tools ever since, now I make nerdy AI music for fun that pays the bills. AI isn't the end.

The current AI discourse is really nothing new. New technology is made every day, and sometimes that new technology makes old technology impractical. Instead of being excited that their jobs will become easier and more productive, they feel anger for having "wasted their time."
