I took her comment as sarcasm. *Cait was often cold and disinterested towards Maddie (treated/used as a stand-in until Cait could get Vi back). Once Vi did come back, she was tossed aside like a piece of unwanted trash. It's no surprise Maddie wanted to hate Cait in the end.
