Today, while in Nairobi South C, a resident approached me with a complaint about a neighbour who had allegedly diverted raw sewage into the stormwater drainage system. The resident explained that the situation becomes even worse when it rains, as the sewage overflows onto the roads. At the time of my visit, raw sewage was visibly flowing into the drainage system, creating an unbearable stench and posing a serious public health and environmental risk. I immediately engaged the Nairobi Water and Environment teams and directed them to take urgent action. Anyone found illegally directing raw sewage into the stormwater drainage system must be held accountable. We cannot allow such irresponsible actions to endanger the health of residents, pollute our environment, and compromise our drainage infrastructure. Appropriate action must be taken to stop this immediately.

This is unacceptable. A landlord in kawangware has deliberately exposed the community to raw sewage directly from the toilets, creating a hazardous environmental and health risk. Despite multiple attempts to reach her by our environment officers she always responds with hostility and arrogantly claiming that nothing can be done to her. In response, today we arrested the caretaker, who is set to be arraigned in court. As a county government, we will not stand by and watch such blatant disregard for public health and environmental safety.

But in fact, it destroys Donbas, drains it out (literally and figuratively). In the Russian-occupied part of the Donetsk region, the water supply situation is critical - residents of some settlements have been without water for months, and it is often impossible to draw water from installed barrels because they freeze or run empty. A lot of residents have no heating. Sewage systems are overflowing and failing.

The Changara Water Pan project, fully funded bt the World Bank, should have brought clean water and irrigation to over 5,000 households in Busia just like its twin project in Bungoma that is functional. Yet, despite KSh 200 million allocated over the past two financial years, nothing has been done. The funds in the accounts have been depleted, despite nothing to show for it. Busia County is an active crime scene. We will get to the bottom of this.
