The student protest at Jantar Mantar against endemic exam paper leaks is not the first show of mass dissent against the Narendra Modi government. Before this, there has been a farmers’ movement, the anti-CAA protests, and several other protest mobilisations by workers, Dalits, and adivasi communities. Sonam Wangchuk has been picked up from Jantar Mantar and forcefully taken to a hospital. This is not out of a concern for Sonam Wangchuk's health. This is to shut down a democratic protest. If this government cared about protesters, they would not have let GD Agarwal die. If this government cared about protesters, they would have opened up a dialogue with the hundreds of people still sitting at Jantar Mantar. Instead of protecting students, the government is protecting the Education Minister. We must all go to Jantar Mantar right now if we can. We must all join the Sansad Chalo march on 20th July.

I met multiple students at RML Hospital who were injured during today's protest at Jantar Mantar. Narendra Modi-led government unleashed pellet bullets, tear gas, and lathi charges on students. Real numbers of injured students is much higher. This is the true face of the BJP - subjecting thousands of ordinary students to brutality for demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Many injured students said they felt abandoned as the violence unfolded. They believe better coordination and a dedicated SOS mechanism were needed, especially while organizers were meeting BJP ministers in this crucial time.
