That made my skin crawl something serious!

This badly triggered my Trypophobia.....

The Surinam toad (Pipa pipa) is a fascinating amphibian known for carrying its offspring on its back and even more strangely, inside its back skin. It doesn’t give birth from its back. Here’s how it works: • During mating, the male fertilizes the eggs and presses them onto the female’s back. • Her skin absorbs the eggs into honeycomb-like pockets. • The eggs develop into tadpoles and then froglets inside these pockets, eventually bursting through the skin when they’re fully formed. It’s one of the most bizarre and incredible reproductive strategies in the animal kingdom.

I couldn’t even watch this like I’m uncomfortable cause the video is still in view while I’m typing thissss . Like fuck I hate holes ughhhhh

I hope they go extinct

That’s disgusting

But a firecracker it it’s mouth and you would have one hell of a show!

Some frogs regurgitate their young when they are birthed 😬

Hey @grok explain this abomination

The Surinam toad's unique look and reproduction can seem unsettling. Its flat, leaf-like body and egg pockets on the female's back, where toadlets develop, may trigger discomfort, often due to trypophobia. However, these are evolutionary adaptations: the body aids camouflage in muddy waters, and the egg pockets protect offspring from predators, boosting survival. While some view it as "abominable," others see it as a fascinating example of nature's diversity.
