I will still give the husband 99.9% He did everything a reasonable man should do which includes -talked boldly when it was still man-to-man (no gun in view yet) -hit the guy in the chest (ready to fight for his woman against a man like him) -stammer and SOFTLY deny the woman as his, when danger first appeared i.e when the guy boasted about having a gun (usually the danger in this kind of setting involving boasting of the ability to cause injury or going into a clash with a superior man is death or serious injury unto the man). Sometimes all the man have to do to de-escalate such a situation is to pretend he is not in-charge—not the husband—so that both of them get dismissed off the scene. That was what Abraham did in the bible when the king asked about his relationship with Sarah. Abraham averted clashing with the superior man (the king) by calling his wife, his sister. —Practically take off when danger is imminent: this is highly necessary because otherwise, the man would get injured/killed and the assailant woukd still have his way with the woman. There are situations where the assailant quickly left the woman because the husband escaped and they are not comfortable with this—they thought he might come back quickly more dangerously. That is why the Yorubas say: mòjà, møsá l’a fi ńmø akínkanjú lógun [great warriors know when to attack, and when to flee the battle]. So, the man na correct guy!
