Kenya is hurting. Not loudly, not on headlines but quietly, inside homes where parents wake up every morning forced to choose between health, rent, food, and education, knowing none of them will be fully met. This is not survival. This is slow suffocation. Benjamin is a Form Two student at St. Domnic Kasarani moving to Form Three. Last term, he never sat his end-term exams. Not because he failed, not because he refused to learn but because poverty shut the school gate in his face. While his classmates returned to school this term, Benjamin stayed home. Every morning he prepares a jiko and charcoal, waiting for his mother to return from marikiti where she roasts maize for strangers. He waits with hope hope that she will come back with food, hope that something small will remain for rent. This is the routine of a child who should be in class, not counting coins. What he told me today is what truly broke me. He said he is ready to operate a boda boda to help his mother put food on the table, but he is only 17 and has no ID. A child willing to trade his education and safety for survival. That is not courage that is desperation created by neglect. This is how children drop out of school in Kenya. Not because they are lazy, but because the system looks away. Not because parents don’t care, but because they have been pushed beyond their limits. I appeal to Kasarani MP Hon. Hon Captain Ronald Karauri you have helped many, and this is one more child whose future can still be saved. This is not about politics. It is about responsibility. And to Kenyans: if we ignore stories like Benjamin’s, we become part of the problem. This is not a plea for sympathy. It is a call for action. School fees, basic support, attention small interventions that change a life forever. Benjamin does not need pity. He needs a classroom. He needs a chance. He needs us now.

Reservation in medical education is a ticking time bomb that will destroy the foundations of healthcare in this country. When meritorious students are unable to secure admission in the medical field while undeserving candidates become doctors, India's healthcare system is bound to suffer. A system that grants medical seats to students with lower scores while high-achieving candidates struggle, even with exceptional percentiles, is destined to fail. Medicine is a profession where competency should be the sole criterion. It is a matter of life and death. If this continues, we are heading towards a medical system where degrees are devalued, trust in doctors erodes, and the public ultimately suffers. Reservation in medical education is not social justice; it is social suicide.

Watch: Is Ntege the wake-up call we needed? To those without context, Ntege James is a senior five student (BCM) at St Maria Goretti Katende. His former school violated his rights as a student living with a disability when it declined to register him for additional support. UNEB could not facilitate him with an assistant during UCE. additional time during exams was also declined. Consequently, Ntege was graded like other students because he was not assessed prior. This affected his performance. He has turned this injustice into advocacy, using his voice to emphasize that the education policy is not just a poster on the wall; it must be enforced. We must use Ntege as a mirror to see how children like him are judged, not understood, and their rights violated for simply being different. I hope Ministry of Education and Sports - Uganda and Uganda National Examinations Board take this matter seriously to help others facing the same.

OAU transport system was near perfect, adequate buses and bikes, we rarely experienced queues until the First Lady came and decided she didn’t like the ease of transportation and introduced “change” by donating CNG buses. The school management in turn banned all motorcycles and commercial buses on campus and subjected over 30,000 students to just about 50 buses and a few tricycles. OAU has one of the largest land masses of any Nigerian university, yet students are now stranded daily. This is a Monday morning where students are supposed to rush for class, but they are stuck at the campus gate because of the inefficiency of the CNG buses. Students are struggling to go to class in the morning and in the evenings to even get back to their hostels. Students staying off campus now spend almost double to get to campus, all alternative transport means have been removed The management have cars to bypass all of this, but majority of students do not. Yet they released statements talking about how the buses will “ease transportation” and even implied students appreciate the system. Meanwhile, students are trekking, missing classes, and spending hours in queues. Let it be clear that students do not appreciate this system. It has made our lives harder, not better. What used to be a smooth system has now become a daily struggle. There are many pressing issues in this school, but they chose to dismantle a working transport system and replace it with hardship. Today, before me, CMPD Officer Justin Campbell testified about the system that failed him and his brothers in blue. Officer Campbell responded to the Galway Drive ambush where 4 officers were killed. He dragged them out of the gunfire, broke his leg, and later lost that leg. His words were clear: “The judicial system in Mecklenburg County is trash. The magistrate system has no idea what they are doing. This cashless bail system is a joke.” Roy Cooper built this system. His refusal to hold violent criminals has cost officers their lives, cost families their loved ones, and cost heroes like Officer Campbell his leg. THAT is Cooper’s legacy.

What you saw in the video is an Indian student who has gone to America with dreams and aspirations, but the reality is that he is being treated like a hardened criminal. He is being handcuffed, he is being beaten up, and he's being deported. For what? Because he went to America with some dreams in his eyes. And he is not the first Indian student to be treated like this. This has happened with multiple students where, in some context or the other, they are being manhandled, they are being booted out, and they are being deported out of the US. The backlog is increasing as far as Visa is concerned. Admissions are being denied. And not just that, 682 Indians were handcuffed. They were put in military planes and sent back to India. If anybody has broken any law to be in your country, there is a human way to behave with them. For countries like China and Nepal, America sends people in commercial flights. And our people were stuffed into a military aircraft, and you should have read and heard the ordeal. They could not defecate or urinate for multiple hours at a stretch, women and children alike.
