From the Arkansas-Florida game today. With a runner on 3B tagging the Arkansas CF dekes an early catch before he really catches the ball. It triggers the Florida runner to leave early & then return to 3B to retag the base. That gives Arkansas time to throw him out at HP.

For me the big takeaway on this play is how hard CF Rojas closed on this play to prevent Thomas from going to 3B. Rojas breaks hard as soon as the ball is by the hitter. Nine ways to score from 3B & two from 2B. Often takes pitcher’s extra chase breaking ball away.

In case you missed it, this is what I was referring to. Arteta returns the ball to Martinelli, who goes to take a quick throw. But Justin stands on his foot and puts his left arm around him to prevent the throw. Ref is looking, Martinelli/Arteta appeal, nothing given.

This is honestly maybe the worst play calling sequence I’ve ever seen from the 1 yard line. - Inside Zone with everybody inside trying to run at Vita Vea - Double Move from the 1 on a ball that we have seen CJ not throw that effectively in the past - Sprint rollout to the left inside the DE when Tampa has 4 players to essentially cover 3 What a disaster.

Don’t be like this player. So many players still don’t use boost efficiently, even though boost management is the most important skill in the game. A good guideline is to save boost for when you’re making a play on the ball and use your movement to get to the ball. Here is a player who uses all of his boost to chase the ball, and when he ends up low on boost, he keeps chasing anyway. This leads to him bumping his teammate and giving up an easy goal.

Don’t be like this player. So many players still don’t use boost efficiently, even though boost management is the most important skill in the game. Rockies down 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th with runners on 1B & 2B & they base hit bunt. The Red Sox are not surprised. They close with their 3B & 1B BUT their second baseman is way out of position to get to 1B before Cole Carrigg(A plus runner). In this situation the 2B can’t hold the runner on 2B & beat Carrigg to 1B. Looked like everything slowed down due to his lateness getting to 1st base. The SS has to hold the runner at 2B & the 2B has to cheat his positioning towards 1B so he beats Carrigg. It appears like they are hedging their positioning to protect the 6 hole in case Carrigg swings the bat. You can’t play everywhere. If you expect a bunt, you have to be in the best position to defend the bunt. The bunt was excellent. It was an early turn base hit bunt. Great direction & speed. The BHB choice put Carrigg in a better position to get out of the box fast(After seeing the ball down) & just beat the play to 1B. Of course you can argue that both teams did what they were supposed to do & the Rockies just out executed the Red Sox.

In the outfield if you open up to one side of a hard hit ball & the ball is on the opposite side just rotate your head to the ball verses trying to turn your entire body back to the ball. Taking your eyes off the ball briefly & having body control is more efficient than watching the ball all the way & not be in control of your movements.
