Exactly so. How can it be a "voluntary" interview if, by not attending, you can be arrested. Attendance is not voluntary, it is mandatory if you want to avoid an arrest.

This is one of the biggest cons and abuses of power by police officers. The 'I'm requesting you to attend a voluntary interview but if you refuse you will be arrested..." and also the 'I'm here for a voluntary interview" "Thank you sir, I am now arresting you on suspicion of.." IF they have evidence to arrest you, there is no 'voluntary' about it. IF you attend a police station on a voluntary basis, there is no 'necessity' for the arrest. IF you are asked to do a voluntary interview. The right to refuse should be absolute and without threat or intimidation. The way the police do it right now is abuse of power and PACE!

These constables think they control the law and interpret law as they wish for their own purposes. They don't. They enforce existing law. They follow the law. They are not above the law.
