The Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way, the two largest galaxies in the Local Group, are expected to collide in about 4-5 billion years, creating a giant elliptical galaxy. The stars are so far apart that they will not collide, but some may be ejected from the system.

The gravitational complexities within a galaxy, and more so in colliding galaxies, are still mysteries to modern physics. Our understanding of physics is applicable only within the confines of our own galaxy.

Was this event captured by a telescope or was it a mathematical model?

I agree with waltz. It looks like a beautiful dance between two galaxies. 😍
