Galaxies are not isolated islands. When two galaxies pass close to one another, gravity can pull stars, gas, and even dark matter away from one galaxy and into another. One famous example involves the Milky Way slowly stripping stars from the Sagittarius Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy. Vast streams of stolen stars now wrap around our galaxy like cosmic fingerprints of an ancient encounter, Astronomers have observed many such galactic thefts throughout the universe, revealing that galaxies grow not only by forming stars-but also by stealing them. This glowing beauty is the barred spiral galaxy IC 486, which lies on the edge of the constellation Gemini (the Twins) 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 around 380 million light-years from Earth. The subtle variations in colour across this galaxy have been captured in this Hubble image – a pale centre dominated by older stars, bluish regions in the surrounding disc where younger stars shine, and the intense white glow of its active galactic nucleus! This is what happens when leaders prioritize power over people year after year. This is what happens when you defund the police and glorify addiction instead of recovery. This is what happens when you vote for the same failed Democrat machine for decades, human beings discarded like trash on the streets of Kensington in Philadelphia, while the politicians stay rich and untouched. This is every major city in the country and they are all run by Democrats. Enough is enough, America. Take back your streets.
