My message in Helsinki: our region’s DNA is to be prepared, not afraid. At today’s very timely meeting, we are taking the next step to strengthen the protection of Europe’s Eastern Flank. The Russian threat is not going away. Eastern Flank nations are working hard to protect the EU and NATO borders. Estonia will invest 5% of GDP in defence starting next year. To move faster, we need European support and solidarity-based funding — and we need it quickly.
