Events held in government schools must maintain political neutrality and have educational relevance. The issue gained fresh attention after the headmistress of a Panchayat Union Middle Girls’ School in Krishnarayapuram, Karur district, allegedly showed a live telecast of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s public meeting to students during school hours on Friday. A video showing uniformed students watching Vijay’s speech on a classroom projector went viral on social media. Following the controversy, the headmistress was suspended. Palo Alto High students given Qurans, encouraged to wear hijabs on mosque trip — parents sue Parents of Palo Alto High School students are suing the school district after a class field trip to a mosque last fall. The lawsuit claims female students were encouraged to wear hijabs, students were handed Qurans, and the visit framed Islam as aligned with social justice work. The trip was part of the school’s Social Justice Pathway program. Photos of the students were allegedly taken and posted online without parental consent. The plaintiffs include Jewish, Hindu, and Zoroastrian parents who say the activity crossed the line from education into religious promotion. Zahra Billoo, executive director of CAIR’s Bay Area office, spoke to the students during the visit. She later called the lawsuit “misguided,” saying: “Public schools and the government have an obligation to remain neutral toward religion, but what neutrality does not mean is shielding students entirely. The job of educators is to teach students, and expose them to different worldviews. That’s what happened here.” She added: “One of the most important ways we combat hate is to learn about each other. I am concerned that this group of parents not only wants to counteract that for their own children… but is attempting to intimidate schools and school districts from doing necessary work of educating the next generation.” Learning about others is great. Indoctrinating students into a religion as part of their education isn’t. There’s a clear difference. Keep schools about learning and let students decide what path to follow. Public schools should remain neutral. Teaching about different faiths is appropriate. Handing out religious texts, encouraging students to wear religious clothing, and presenting one religion as uniquely tied to social justice are not.

Seeing videos of students hugging and kissing openly on school premises after completing secondary school is quite disappointing. Celebrating the end of school is understandable, but there should still be a sense of decency, self-respect, and respect for the environment they are in. What is even more worrying is how comfortable some young people have become displaying intimate behavior in public without any regard for those around them. Schools are meant to instill discipline, values, and good conduct, not encourage actions that many would consider inappropriate.

This morning, I conducted an unannounced inspection at Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, to assess its current infrastructure, leadership, and the welfare of the students. Upon my arrival at 7:45 AM, I was pleased to see the majority of students lining up for assembly, with both the academic and non-academic staff, including the principal, already present and ready to begin the school day. During my visit, I held separate discussions with students, teachers, and the principal to better understand their challenges and needs. It is clear that the school requires significant infrastructural improvements to adequately and safely accommodate its students and staff. Queens College, established almost 100 years ago, has long surpassed its original capacity. To ensure that our students benefit from an appropriate student-to-teacher ratio, sufficient resources, and adequate facilities for boarding and feeding, we must maintain a standard capacity across all Unity Schools and Federal Government Colleges. In line with our commitment to promoting quality assurance in education, the Federal Ministry of Education will collaborate with Principal Obabori and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to redesign, refurbish, and build new facilities at Queens College, including a library, dining areas, hostels, and classrooms. Over the next several months, I will be conducting unannounced visits to other Unity Schools and Federal Colleges. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mission for the education sector is simple: to provide better education for all. This is the goal that the Ministry and I are dedicated to achieving. I extend my thanks to the principal, teachers, and students for their warm reception and look forward to working with the school’s leadership to ensure better pay and welfare packages for our teachers and improved educational outcomes for our students. #EducationForAll

It's a well established practice and it's here to stay" Many of my friends have kids in private schools which have slightly different term times to state schools, and I've seen them take advantage of cheaper holidays simply by virtue of the slightly different dates..

One campus profiled has 6 mock fabrication facilities for 300 students (who sleep in dormitories). Samsung and SK Hynix hire the top 1/3rd students of these schools. Students learn how to handle wafers, work in cleanroom suits and become experts in semiconductor chemicals and machinery. South Korea exported $173 billion of semiconductors in 2025 and manufactures 60% of global memory chips. Charlie was incredibly proud of it. His vision was a Club America chapter in every high school in America. Today, in my capacity as the President of NANS, I led all the structures of NANS, including sister unions, NAUS, NAPS, NANCES and NFSAN to the Community High school, Ahoro-Esiele, and Yawato community in Orire Local Government area of Oyo state, where we visited the scenes where our students and teachers were abducted. Going forward, we met with the King, some of the families of the victims, and parents in the communities of Ahoro-Esiele and Yawato communities. Furthermore, we assured them of our solidarity and support for them in this time of trouble and grief. Subsequently, we assured them that we are constantly calling on the government to ensure the immediate rescue and safe return of the abducted students and teachers. Conclusively, I assured all Nigerian Students that as far as I remain their President, I will continue to protect their interest. #ABUSE What happened at the Silver Bird Cinema in Accra last Sunday can only amount to abuse of school-children. The Israeli film festival was boycotted by many sections of the Ghanaian community because of the #genocide in #Gaza and the imposition of apartheid rule in #Palestine. To deal with this, the Embassy of Israel in Accra got the authorities of Achimota School and Accra Girls Senior High School to bus their students to fill up the space. This is a clear abuse of students. They were used in a failed attempt to whitewash apartheid rule and genocide. The authorities of the schools must be called upon to explain why they misused their students in this blatant attempt to justify apartheid and genocide.

It's DECEITFUL for the voucher bill's author to suggest parity in public & private schools serving students w/ disabilities. He surely knows there are many types of disabilities that differ in nature, severity, & cost. Many private schools only admit students w/ less severe disabilities & can at any time deny services while public schools must take all & provide transparency & parental rights. And that's why this bill is discriminatory - b/c tax dollars would flow to private schools who discriminate based on disability & disability type w/o recourse.
