This is what happens when you don't know the ground reality. I worked in a government school for 3 years. The government gives students many things for free like school uniforms, stationery, lunch, and shoes. Most students come from poor families. Many of them even take some of the... midday meal home in their lunch boxes for family. Now about the claim that 93,779 government schools were closed. These were mostly schools with very few students. The schools were shut down and merged with bigger government schools so students could get better facilities and a better education. Here in Surat, many old government schools were demolished and rebuilt in the last 2 to 3 years. The new schools have smart boards, good classrooms, and enough teachers. Some of them have even better facilities than private schools. I have attached a photo of one such government school. It is so good that getting admission there is not easy.
