What is “Works Exit” even communicating?? I feel like this is a failure of traffic sign officials rather than a failure of drivers.

All those drivers weren't trying to outsmart anything. The signage is confusing (wtf is "Works Exit"?) and once one car goes that way, others will follow without thinking. The only thing this proves is the midwit who set up the barriers and sign failed miserably.

It confused drivers. It should say “no access”

Dear left side drivers, This sign is dumb. It doesn’t communicate the lane closure, only the incoming construction traffic hazard. Sincerely, the US.

I did traffic control (licensed) for 15 years. No one READS the signs! They’re like “Lemmings”, 1st one goes wrong, they all follow. It’s because they’re looking at the bumper in front of them. Tailgating! If they weren’t so close, they’d see the signs! 🇺🇸 🤪!

First one went that direction by accident, the others followed like lemmings do.

Tbf the position of that sign is piss poor

I’ve never seen a “works exit” sign. I feel like some of them just followed the car ahead of them. Maybe put up a “do not enter” sign?

I've never, in my life, seen a sign that said "Works Exit." I'm not sure, given about a second to make my decision, with a train of cars all doing the same thing in front of me, that I would've made the right call here.

The sign should have been better, like "CONSTRUCTION WORKERS ONLY" or have one worker monitor that area.

I saw this happen a few weeks ago through Austin/ San Antonio construction at night... Lmfao

I've never seen this type of a situation and would be a confused lemming.

Honest mistake 👍👍

Wait the exit to go left or right? It's so confusing actually Wait the exit to go left or right? It's so confusing actually For example write: work in progress stay on the left side

Technically this is somewhat the fault of the work crew. There should be a "works traffic only" sign after the "works exit" to indicate that it's still a works only lane. "works exit" is there to warn drivers heavy plant may be trying to exit and join traffic there.

Probably on their phones.

The trucks respect the work zone speed limit, but not the cars. Imagine the trucks to be autonomous vehicles. Every one of them will equal a Sunday driver but in the middle of the work week traffic. Every day every week.

Signage is not clear, no one is trying anything on.

So satisfying!

I haven't driven since 2007 and even I remember not to cross a solid line.

This is a perfect example of how people follow blindly without thinking. Just like they do with politics, climate, etc. getting all their information from places like Facebook and not researching anything themselves.

That’s the sheep effect I do t think most of them realised they were just following the car in front

How do these drivers manage to hold down jobs?

One car does and others follow thinking it’s okay. lol.

😭Drivers: "Shortcut mode ON!" Sign: "Works exit, fools!" Them: "Wait, where's the road?!" 😭🚧💥 #TrafficTrap #LemmingLogic

@johnoSchmucko18

yep, the universe didn’t even wait a full second 😭

“Thru traffic keep left”. That’s what that ridiculous sign should’ve said. Also, those drivers clearly didn’t read the sign anyways, or they could’ve concluded they didn’t belong regardless.

Most of them are just sheep

maybe that is what he wanted.

The now long term Wentbridge Viaduct repairs on the A1 in Yorkshire.

Hahaha 🤣

Back when I did asphalt work I had a car follow my dump truck into the work zone. I had to stop, get out and go explain to the fool what he did. Like lemmings they follow without paying attention.
