I know people get really defensive or aggressive based on political alignment about this ("Are you a misogynist then??" "She's bad because she's a woman/lefty"), but it really is critically bad analysis regardless. All the same arguments, beats, rhetoric, etc were widespread.

This was 2 years before gamergate. Those 2014 evenets were kind of meaningless in comparison to "this". GG was seen as a convenient "tangible" excuse to get revenge against 'the journalist class' for promoting Anita. Most of the first GG threads were full of anti-Anita stuff.

I unironically think she did harm to feminism because she was so lazily wrong about things and the only response to her being criticized was "oh wow, looks like we have a sexist bigot over here, you mad bigot? Insecure? have a small penis?"

yes 100% but this is too difficult for some yes many who attacked her were just stupid misogynists but that doesnt count as a defense
