Boris Cherny (Claude Code creator) says with Opus 5 they deleted 80% of their own system prompt because the model now handles those behaviors natively. He advises everyone to press delete every 6 months: wipe CLAUDE.md, skills, and hooks, then rebuild only what’s needed from real failures. Unhobble the model instead of constraining it with outdated instructions.
