I cannot remember a time in my 20s when I was consumed by the president in office. It is so sad that all of our conversations, all of our lives, all that we do revolves around who the president is. I really think this is a problem of social media. I would not shed tear one if every social media platform just disappeared. Funny. I’m 69. I was her age back in the 1970s. Every kid’s car was an unsafe rusted out piece of garbage but we were glad to have it. Gas crises hit. Recession hit. Mortgages were 14%. Outsourcing was just starting. Jobs evaporating. Vietnam was still looming until I graduated HS in ‘74. Lots of adversity with no sympathy, safe spaces or participation trophies. Yet we soldiered on. Didn’t bitch about it. Figured it out. Muddled through it all with nary a complaint in sight. Now? These whiney spoiled brats have the best electronic devices, clean clothes, nice cars, fancy sneakers, probably grew up in the suburbs and from the looks of them haven’t been missing any meals, and…Woe is me! Life is hard! It’s all someone else’s fault! I hate my life! I hate you! OMG get over your insufferable self. Gen Z has it GREAT. Challenges? Sure. Welcome to life. Either get busy living or get busy dying.
