Apple just straight up killed my iPad 9th gen. It no longer turns on, which is why I was kinda forced to buy the iPad Air M4

They should’ve updated iPads with iPadOS 26 to iPadOS 27, they’re not that different, my 2018 iPad Pro worked great on iPadOS 18 and 26 ruined the performance.

I’m honestly disappointed with Apple. My iPad was noticeably slower and stuttered after just 3 years. Meanwhile, my 4.5+ year old Pixel 6 still feels smooth with zero slowdown and it has a Tensor G1. I genuinely don’t understand the “Apple devices age better” narrative.

I have an M2 iPad Pro on iPadOS 26 and if I dare to change the color of the icons, opening and closing apps becomes a 5 fps experience.

That’s nothing new, though. Apple does provide updates for a long time, but after 5 - 6 years, the software was garbage every single time. I’d rather have no updates at all than unoptimized crap every time.

While the iPad came out in 2021, the chip came in 2019, so this shouldn't be surprising. It's only got 3GB of RAM and it's running an OS meant for devices with 6+. I wish that Apple would just cut chips off of new iOS/iPadOS versions 7 years after release.

This was happening on my old 8th gen iPad well before iOS 26. Apple just sucks at optimizing for their older devices. It would freeze and hang at least twice a day.
