the grit, the fiery approach, even the lyrics of the song were like a teaser of where he was heading. for every new element michael introduced in each era, you can trace its origin back to something he experimented with in the previous one, and that’s really fun to analyze

the best thing mj did for his voice was learning how to put more grit and rasp to his voice. such a stark difference between the clean thriller vocals and the harsh gritty Bad vocals

I hear it way before this on "Hot Street" a bit ngl👑🔥

omg i used to love figuring out which era he recorded every unreleased song in by analysing his singing style!!! one of my fav parts of being an mj fan

@yahzmineyael What fucking song is this ????😭 this reminds me of streetwalker energy
It started on the Triumph album

unreal vocals

Any aspiring ones can learn a lot from Michael's process.

FACTSSSSS dam that was goood 🔥

he recorded the album around 1985 which is not far from this btw

State of Shock?

Dam this sounds better than what was on Victory.

Ehhh, Abortion Papers was recorded in 1983 and had his Bad style vocals already

Yeah, inspired by Freddie as well

THRAD ERA MICHAEL

I wanna hear his solo version of this if it exists
