This is where it all began

Peshawar 1988/89. 20 overs unofficial game because Odi has to be cancelled due to rain. Watched it on TV. Great player. Great for India, great for cricket, great for fans. From a Pakistani …

Thanks for sharing! I watched this on DD as a 9 year old, losing my mind. This kind of hitting just did not happen back in the day. 80 was an astonishing strike rate then. He fell short of winning this exhibition match for India from an impossible situation by 3 runs or so.

Scorecard

This is not the ODI debut match of Sachin as many believe. This was an exhibition match Not sure about what Qadir said to him, but I remember vividly paki commentator saying that he can't hit (veteran) Qadir for 6s, when newbie Mushtaq was hit for 6s

This was an exhibition match and Abdul Qadir has told this incident of how Sachin hit 4 sixes in an over, Sachin was given a life when he was dropped by a fielder.

After the third sixth, even Qadir was clapping 😀😀😀

Tendulkar is playing like an IPL batsman and that too long back. Superbbb.

Thanks bro for sharing this. Never watched this match before.

@indraroy First signs of the genius! ❣️❣️❣️

That is the Genesis of this great man

The last picture at Wankhede was very emotional. I have it somewhere in my library.

I stopped playing cricket once Indian team dropped him. My role model in Cricket

Qadir often remarked that while Gavaskar would wait for the bowler to make a mistake, Sachin could "create" a boundary off a good delivery. A specific over in Peshawar saw Sachin hit Qadir for 28 runs .

This was an exhibition match that was played on 16 December in Peshawar, the same day Pakistan army surrendered to the Indian Army in Dhaka, 1971. @sachin_rt announced his arrival with a stellar performance.

#Cricket was my love then in 1989 I strongly remember watching this live on tv then and felt he would rule cricket world and same this happened as well about #Kingkhan while I was watching fauji I predicted success for him and rest is #history

Shameless 🇵🇰i - SRT made him his bit**

Peshawar, I was there in the stadium.

Pakistan ka baap only one @sachin_rt paaji 💥🇮🇳🙏

Tendulkar the greatest of the game to the greatest leg spinner. Pure gem

When you're in the company of chika Srikant it is only natural.

I still remember watching this on our B&W shutter wala TV, I was alone at home jumping with joy at each shot. I ran to balcony to see if any friends were around. I so wanted to share that joy with everyone. Later Sachin gave us so many moments to do that with the whole nation.

Yes! Spinny got a Bharat Ratna as a brand ambassador!

My God 😍 what a legend

This was an exhibition match FYKI

We were lucky to watch that match live on TV.

Nice clip!!

Seeing this live as a kid growing up was an experience by itself

Yes. Watched it as a 12 yr old and my brother and I were literally speechless. We could not believe that someone just few years older can play like this

Abdul kadir was one of the great bowler.
