This is why chip evacuation is so critical when you're machining, making sure that your coolant flow and your programming are consistent with chip evacuation, with edge/burr management

Conventional pass for a finish at depth on aluminum? Fire that programmer.

I once came across a study, that I can no longer find, that found that the important thing that coolant does is blow away the chips. Not reduce friction, not cool the tooling, but get the chips out.

Is this more due to coolant or more due to improper flute count/helix angle on the cutting tool?

Lol, Got a job I'll be setting up next week . 2.750" Dodecagon outside profile and a 2" ID bore, 1-5/8" long. Got a 2" long chip splitter endmill for this reason. That was the easiest part of the this job to solve, lol. The 6 angled slots around the outside with a min .0625" rad at almost 10*D deep was the tricky part to dial in and then figure out how to go from prototype into production.

This is like those late night infomercials where people make simple tasks cause huge catastrophes just to sell you junk.
