I once came across a study, that I can no longer find, that found that the important thing that coolant does is blow away the chips. Not reduce friction, not cool the tooling, but get the chips out.

Lol, Got a job I'll be setting up next week . 2.750" Dodecagon outside profile and a 2" ID bore, 1-5/8" long. Got a 2" long chip splitter endmill for this reason. That was the easiest part of the this job to solve, lol. The 6 angled slots around the outside with a min .0625" rad at almost 10*D deep was the tricky part to dial in and then figure out how to go from prototype into production.
