This part of our population is still (thankfully) a minority relative to the entire population. However, they tend to be the “loudest” group (in gatherings and on social media). They are largely poorly educated, extremely gullible & impressionable, and fiercely tribal. They will believe anything - as long as their idol is saying it, or as long as those around them are yelling it. They will even make up delusional fantasies in support of their stance. These fantasies are instantly “fact” in their mind. Real facts no longer matter - and are useless in an argument with them. They, in essence, are “sheep” (even though they pride themselves in calling anyone who disagrees with them “sheep”). Those who want to impose influence (domestic or foreign) naturally target people like this. Yes, MAGA is essentially a mental disease. And it is incredibly difficult for many of them to fix it - largely because they do not want to. To them, the delusion IS the reality.

Sadly, this is the face of the Republican party. "Basket of deplorables."
