She wanted answers and pushed for a meeting with the school and the other parents to understand what happened. The school initially gave the boy a 3-day suspension and wouldn’t set up the meeting she asked for. That same night at her son’s t-ball practice, the other family glared and pointed at them. The boy’s 10-year-old sister even came over and asked the 5-year-old what it was like to be strangled. The mom kept pushing. After meeting with the principal, the boy was expelled for the rest of the year and removed from the t-ball team. Her daughter is physically okay but pretty shaken up emotionally. She’s only five and had never even heard of something like this. When something this serious happens with little kids, a short suspension isn’t enough. Parents often have to fight hard for real accountability and safety. Would you have kept pushing like this mom did? I sure would have.
