The US government shut down is just the latest glaring example of the failure of the American healthcare system. The idea that you can mandate people to purchase private health insurance from an unreformed monopoly that charges outrageous prices through a hospital system with no transparent pricing is an absurdity. There are solutions to the American healthcare system ... ranging from direct pricing with catastrophic coverage to an expansion of Medicare to cover everybody. However, because both political parties are funded by the private and health insurance monopoly the government makes policy that enriches that monopoly at the expense of the American people and then put on theatrics like these shutdowns. We can do better

American “I'm a doctor and I'm unhappy with our current US health system” She started looking into the UK universal healthcare system wait time for cancer - In the UK cancer patients just be seen within 62 days but only 65% of people are seen within that time - In America cancer patients are seen within 30 days “There's a way and that's kind of a scary thing.” She goes into cancer survival rates by country, and the US isn’t anywhere near the top This is interesting information. We need healthcare reform

Shabana Mahmood claimed that “Muslim hatred is off the charts.” I’m Muslim and I’m British. Born here. Raised here. I don’t feel hatred. But when people come here, refuse to integrate, expect Britain to change for them and then accuse the rest of us of racism, it makes people angry. And rightly so. Wanting to preserve British values isn’t racist. It’s natural for people to want to protect their culture and their identity. That’s not racism that’s patriotism. Labour really needs to stop demonising people for loving their own country.
