In our relentless pursuit of transforming infrastructure, I will like to provide an update on our 18.75km Lekki Epe Expressway Road project. On February 1, 2023, we commissioned phase one, giving the mandate of creating a world-class and long-lasting road to Messrs Craneburg Construction, which starts from Eleko to Epe T-Junction—ensuring a smoother commute for all. Without missing a beat, we embarked on phase two, navigating a challenging stretch from Eleko junction to Abraham Adesanya. This isn't just about roads; it's about reshaping the landscape for a seamless experience. To the resilient residents of Sangotedo, Ogidan, Abijo, Rainoil, and all along Lekki-Epe Expressway, your patience fuels our progress. Please, continue to bear with us as the project is getting to the end. We are promising not just roads but a transformative journey toward enhanced connectivity and convenience. Beautiful ride with the team to ABK. Stopped at the Gateway Landmark for pictures, linked up with fellow bikers, ate good Ofada rice and amala, and enjoyed every moment of the journey. One thing that stood out on this trip was the ongoing improvement on the Abeokuta–Lagos road by @craneburgconstruction You can already see smoother sections and active rehabilitation work making the ride better and more comfortable. Infrastructure like this makes movement easier and road trips more enjoyable. Passed by the massive Lafarge Cement Factory on our way back and just soaked in the scenery all through the ride. The contractor handling the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos Road project has almost completed the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the section between Abeokuta and Papalanto, making the journey along this axis smooth and stress-free. Work is also progressing steadily between Papalanto, Ifo, and Sango, where construction activities are ongoing to deliver a durable and motorable road for the benefit of all. This project, though a federal road, was formally handed over to us after several years of failed interventions, and we took it upon ourselves to ensure it is fixed once and for all. Our administration remains resolute in its commitment to providing quality infrastructure that enhances economic growth, facilitates ease of movement, and improves the daily lives of our people. This vital infrastructure project is being executed by the Dangote Group under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Scheme, and our administration played a significant role in ensuring that this project became a reality for the overall benefit of the good people of Ogun State and other road users. About ten months ago, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and I paid an inspection visit to this strategic corridor, which holds immense significance for Ogun State and Nigeria at large. When completed, it will provide a seamless alternative route for commuters from Sango, Iyana Ipaja, and Itori, eliminating the need to use the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway or pass through Abeokuta to access the Sagamu Interchange.

One thing I really appreciate about the Lagos State Government is that they are very open to criticism and they actually listen like h3ll. That’s how you know people that are serious about getting things done. Unlike places where the first reaction is to track critics down, b3at them up or intim!date them, or look for who to arr3st,that’s not the mindset of people ready to grow. The Nigerian factor is very real and it can slow down progress, but you can still see the will and the effort to be different. That said, some things should be considered from the very beginning. The landscape along the road is extremely important. The road median and the sides of the expressway matter a lot for the overall look and feel. I heard the Green Line might pass along the edge of the Lekki-Epe Expressway. If that’s true, the area should be properly fenced off with beautiful iron designs displaying adverts for the Green Line, rather than leaving it looking abandoned until construction begins. And to the landscaping companies in the city ,you are literally sitting on money waiting to be made. Why not approach the government and pitch to handle the landscaping of the Lekki-Epe corridor? E1 is coming in about 7 months. When visitors arrive, we need them to be wowed even more than last year. Let them immediately notice the difference. Anthony Joshua’s accident was like 20 mins after I drove past the same road and there is a misconception and propaganda going on that it was bad road that caused the mischap, That is untrue Lagos/Ibadan express way is one of the smoothest roads in Nigeria as a whole. The Lekki Free Zone, created in 2006 by the then Governor of Lagos State, who is now the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR 🥇 🇳🇬, is a modern free zone managed in accordance with international best practices spanning over 16,500 hectares are divided into four quadrants. Alaro City is Located in the North West Quadrant of the Lekki Free Zone, which is the logistics and commercial hub of the zone, situated on the Lekki-Epe Expressway, in close proximity to the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the proposed International Airport. ALARO CITY - A concept developed in 2010, with MoU signed in 2012, First CofO signed in 2015 and eventually Launched in 2019, Alaro City is an integrated, mixed-use city planned on over 2,000 hectares of Land in the Lekki Free Zone. This is very commendable. This road was one of the reasons I felt really bad about Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu. It is such a critical corridor, yet it was left in a deplorable state for so long. That was one of my major disappointments with his administration. No matter what happened,even with the #EndSARS protests or any other crisis,the government should not have allowed such an important road to deteriorate to that extent. That said, I am happy today that the road is finally being rehabilitated, even though it took about five years. This is exactly what Nigerians want: a good, clean, and well-maintained environment. Nigerians don’t need too much. We are actually very easy to impress. You don’t have to overdo things,just do the basics well, and the average Nigerian will sing your praises to the high heavens. This level of infrastructure maintenance used to be the standard of the APC in Lagos before Governor Jide’s administration. In my opinion, this has been the laziest government Lagos has had. This is not meant to throw shade; it is simply my personal opinion. However, I must commend the administration for being responsive. When they are criticized, they tend to act quickly to fix issues, and that is a good thing. Still, much more is needed. This road must be rehabilitated to the highest possible standard. It should be beautiful and visually pleasing. It is a critical transport corridor, an industrial corridor, and a major transportation route. In fact, it is almost the lifeline of Lagos. It is also a tourist corridor, as about 90% of tourists who come to Lagos pass through this route to reach different destinations. I want to place special emphasis on Ikate. Kunsela Road should be completely demolished and rebuilt with proper drainage systems on both sides, so that rainwater can flow freely. The same applies to the area around Iyare Motors. That section of the road also needs urgent attention. It should be demolished and reconstructed properly to allow effective water flow. Honestly, I would advise this administration to suspend every other thing and focus on environmental management. Lagos already has everything it needs,from its people to its businesses. Every Lagosian is a hustler. They don’t need much; just give them an enabling environment and watch them take this city to the world and back. Lagosians are among the most inspiring Nigerians on earth. That is not news; it is a fact. The government should simply ensure that the environment is clean, roads are in good condition, and transportation works efficiently. Lagos does not need to beg for investors or engage in unnecessary publicity. By maintaining a clean environment and good infrastructure, Lagos will attract many times more investment than it already does. So, kudos to Governor Jide on this effort. I wish him the very best. As I have said before, I will be the first person to publicly acknowledge and post his achievements, as long as he genuinely tackles environmental issues. Once the environment is properly fixed and Lagos becomes clean again before the end of his tenure, I will personally sing the praises of this administration to the high heavens. I am not hiding that. I hope you all still remember when Peter Obi said the Lagos-Calabar Road project is a waste. When he was asked about that statement here, he couldn't repeat it and instead started saying something entirely different. He said when Joe Biden campaigned, he never promised new roads but to maintain the existing ones. How can someone in their right frame of mind compare Nigeria to the USA in terms of road infrastructure? The roads he mentioned are all undergoing major rehabilitation. In his usual way, he mentioned the Lagos-Ibadan expressway as one of the roads in very bad shape. No administration has invested in road construction like the administration of Tinubu since 1999. No region in Nigeria is left out; hardly will you see any state without ongoing road construction. When last did Peter Obi travel through the Lagos-Ibadan expressway? I stepped into Lagos yesterday after 4 years and I passed the exact road I used to hawk snacks when I was 16 years old. WHY TINUBU? with SEYILAW: Roads and Real Progress For some, the phrase “na road we go chop” is tossed around casually, as if road infrastructure were a luxury rather than a necessity. But this is not ignorance. It is a dangerous dismissal of the role of roads play in development, economic empowerment, and the security of our people. I speak not from hearsay but from lived experience, and I invite you to fact-check me yourself. For the first time in many years, Nigeria is witnessing an unprecedented wave of road construction projects. No administration before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s has embarked on repairs and new builds at this scale. Across the country, the evidence is visible: - Southwest & South-South: - Shagamu–Benin Expressway - Ore–Akure Road - Akure–Ado Road - Benin–Sapele–Warri route - Benin–Asaba Road Ibadan - Akure road - Southeast & South-South: - Port Harcourt–Enugu Road - Benue–Enugu Road - East–West Road (Port Harcourt–Warri section, ~75% complete) - Enugu–Onitsha Expressway (~60% complete) - Benin–Auchi–Okene Road (~55% complete) - Newly built Eke Obinagu Flyover, Enugu Ebony - Calabar - Abuja road. Bonny - Port Harcourt Road - Southwest: - Lagos–Ibadan Expressway (~90% complete) - Ilorin–Jebba–Mokwa Road (~81% complete) - Oyo–Ogbomosho Road - North & Middle Belt: - Abuja–Lokoja Road (~65% complete) - Abuja–Keffi–Akwanga–Lafia–Makurdi Road (~70% complete) - Kano–Maiduguri Expressway (remaining sections ~70% complete) And yes, I deliberately left out the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokoto–Badagry Highway—because even without them, the scale of ongoing work is staggering. I also refused to mention the level of roads done in Abuja by Minister Nyesom Wike. This is not about emotions or partisan loyalty. It is about facts on the ground. Clearance operations are currently ongoing at Maiyegun-Lekki Beach off the Lekki Epe Expressway and I am receiving real time updates from our enforcement and sanitation teams on ground. This exercise is part of our sustained commitment to reclaim and protect our waterfronts, beaches, and coastal corridors from illegal encroachments, shanties, and environmental nuisances. The Maiyegun-Lekki axis is a critical stretch and we will not allow it to become a haven for activities that degrade our environment and threaten public safety. We owe this to the people of Lagos and to the generations that will inherit this city. A #CleanerLagos and a #GreaterLagos is a coastal city we can all be proud of.

We rode from Owerri in Imo State to Umuahia in Abia State through the Mbaise–Obowo road, and I was truly impressed by the quality of infrastructure along the way. The roads in Imo State have greatly improved, making travel easier and more enjoyable for everyone. And as I entered Abia State, I could see ongoing road construction from the boundary to the iconic Umuahia Tower — clear signs of progress. This ride is part of a bigger mission — I’ll be visiting different states across Nigeria that are making real progress in infrastructure and governance. I want to shine a light on the good things happening in our country, because when states perform well, Nigeria wins. If you know any state where the government is working and infrastructure is improving, please recommend it in the comments. I’ll gladly come and document the progress.
